How to unlock the Hidden Key Blade
Key fobs from Volvo have seen a significant improvement in recent years. The key fobs offer more than just a remote to start and lock your car. They can also open and close the windows and give you an additional boost if you require. To unlock your key fob's full potential, first you will have to learn how to use it.
The key fob you have is equipped with a transponder which has been programmed specifically for your Volvo. When you insert it into the ignition barrel an antenna reads its code and compares it to the one stored in your vehicle's start inhibitor module. If the codes don't match, your car won't start. This is an important anti-theft measure that prevents your Volvo from starting if the wrong key is used.
If you lose your keys in the event of a loss, you'll need to bring it to a dealership to have it repaired and your car reprogrammed. This process can take between 5 and 10 days and cost you a significant amount of money. However, there is an alternative to cut out some money by doing the programming at home. You will find all the information you need in the owner's manual or on the internet. Take off the logo and non-logo covers and place your key fob on an uncluttered surface. Find the grey button located on the upper right corner of the fob. Press it down. This will unlock the cover and reveal the CR 2032 3V battery.
